Cederberg Wilderness Area

The rugged Cederberg is a gem in South Africa's hiking crown. This spectacular region is a wild wonderland of rare fauna and flora, mountain peaks, incredible rock formations and Khoi-San paintings.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

  • The Cederberg Wilderness Area falls under the custodianship of CapeNature, but there are various private farms (that offer accommodation and other facilities) within the area. Information about these farms can be found on their respective websites.

  • CapeNature permits needed to hike and climb in the area which can be obtained at Algeria Camp (CapeNature) and Sandrif (Private). Our "Rocklands (CapeNature)" map includes information for the northern region and CapeNature's Kliphuis camp. Information about the Matjiesriver Nature Reserve can be found on its own map too.
