Melville Koppies Nature Reserve

Split into three sections, including Johannesburg's only inner city nature reserve, the Koppies host very important fauna and flora representative of the Witwatersrand Ridge ecosystem as well as important archaeological sites.

Melville Koppies CENTRAL has CONTROLLED ACCESS and is open every Sunday morning from 08:00 to 11:30.

Secure Parking

Scheduled Sunday hikes on all three sections of Melville Koppies are held twice a month on Sundays at 08h30. Volunteer guides lead the group on a 8-10 km circular route through Melville Koppies Central, West and East.These hikes are accompanied by paid security as a precaution. Details are available online.
Melville Koppies are currently offering walk-abouts on Melville Koppies Central from 08h00 to 11h30. Pre-booking and payment essential to limit numbers for safety reasons.

Melville Koppies EAST is open daily (dawn to dusk) for walks and socialised dogs are welcome.
