This year, a couple of the Forge crew completed our 10th Cape Argus Cycle Tour. It is a staple in the Cape Town calendar and an event that it has been celebrated annually since 1978. The one thing that stands out even more than the beautiful views is the staggering support along the route. This is what makes the event that it is and is an unspoken driving force for cyclists to push through to the finish line despite the fire in the knees and sweat on the brow.

The 100 km Ultra-Trail Cape Town (UTCT) is the final race in the Ultra-Trail World Series. The series is among the best-known trail circuits and comprises 21 races in 18 different countries. This year UTCT celebrates its sixth edition and Cape Town will be hosting some of the biggest names in the world of trail running with an impressive international and local line-up.

Additionally, UTCT also features 65 km, 35 km and 21 km routes which are a gateway for aspiring trail running fanatics to push their limits and grow in the sport, if not enjoy the spectacular routes circumnavigating Table Mountain - a natural wonder of the world.

This year, we are excited to be a part of the race! We have provided UTCT with specialised digital maps that are hosted on their website - leveraging the accurate trails that have been digitised in-house by the Forge crew. The maps are also available for free on our mobile app on both Google Play and App Store. In this way, runners and spectators alike can access the maps and routes on your phone on the go. The maps - for all four routes - include:

  • Detailed race routes

  • Aid stations

  • Spectator Points (with times)

  • Start/Fish Point

  • Dynamic Elevation Graphs (web only)

In addition to the digital maps, we will be getting on board with the vibe and stoking the gees. The Forge crew will be setting up our own supporter’s tent at Alphen Trail. The tent will be located near the Alphen Trail Aid Station. At this point, the 65km participants would have already completed a full marathon and the ultra runners will already be three-quarters of their way in! No doubt this would be a handy time for a little boost.

We will have some essential orange-quarters and other snacks and beverages available. Bring your pom-poms and vuvuzelas and show your support for this great event and those who are brave enough to take it on.
