Whilst many parks, reserves and trails are closed then reopened or gate times adjusted more often than we can keep up, I think we can all agree that it's been a real pleasure easing back into semi-normal ways.
The eased restrictions this festive season allowed the Forge crew to verify trails and put together a new map in the Overberg (and it's long overdue) - Greyton & Genadendal.
The trail network overlaps the Riviersonderend Mountains and is home to a couple of great two-day hikes - the Boesmanskloof and Genadendal Trails (these are managed by CapeNature and permits need to be acquired through them). Greyton Nature Reserve is nestled between these areas and offers a selection of comfortable day-hikes.
Greyton and Genadendal are only a stones throw away from Cape Town, making it a fantastic option for an easy weekend escape. Shade is sparse in this region, so make sure you don't leave your hat behind before you set off.
The map is available on our website and the Forge app.
Be sure to get the free Forge App on your mobile and download our offline maps to take with you onto the mountain, then share the stoke using #ForgeSA.
