We are delighted to announce a partnership with Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ). JCPZ is a registered NPO that manages a growing portfolio in excess of 20 000 ha of green open spaces and 3.2 million trees in South Africa's largest city.
This partnership allows for greater cooperation and open communication channels between Forge and Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ), in so doing, making Jo'burg's parks and reserves more accessible to both locals and visitors. Users will also be able to report trail-related issues to Forge which will be brought to JCPZ's attention.
This partnership builds on to the gratifying cooperation we have already had with other NPO stakeholders including the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve Association and JoziTrails. These relationships form part of our vision of being a proactive member of the conservation community in South Africa.
One of our goals in covering the prime reserves and greenbelts in Johannesburg is to showcase to the public just how extensive the green-space network is. By having all the reserve maps on the Forge App, we hope that users will explore all that the city has to offer and visit areas that they possibly hadn't heard of or had been hesitant to visit. As with all Forge maps, our Jo'burg maps include highly accurate trails and all the accompanying information you need to make an informed visit, including Google Maps locations to help you get to your next trailhead hassle-free.
We have a variety of maps available: a consolidated one of the greenbelts and dedicated reserve maps for the larger, distinct reserves including Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, Kloofendal Nature Reserve and Melville Koppies. Who said there's no hiking in Johannesburg?
